As a reseller we enable you to skip the 'retail' component of a products supply chain and provide you with wholesale prices. As bricks and mortar retailers need to maintain staff, premises and high stock levels they often charge the recommended retail price for products.
Using a reseller like NotebookCity.co.nz to procure your IT goods is a great way to save 30% (the retail markup) on exactly the same product you would have purchase from a bricks and mortar retailer. We do our best for our customers to experience a level of service similar to buying direct from your local computer shop however there are some subtle differences. We recommend you read and understand our FAQ for more information on how resellers operate, or if you are not 100% on something give us a call and we will be happy to explain things in plain English for you.
Please ensure you conduct ample research prior to purchasing any products from our website. We make a best effort attempt to ensure our data is accurate and up to date, however with over 12,000 items listed it can be difficult to maintain accurate information 100% of the time.
What we can tell you is that the product SKU represents the product you will receive. If we have omitted a particular detail from the product list we recommend bringing up the manufacturers homepage for the item in question and running the part number through their search function, this should bring up a detailed list of product information.
Calling the manufacturers pre-sales support line and quoting the SKU number is another simple method to find out additional information regarding your item.
The nature of a warranty is that it is in place so that your equipment will be back in working order either by being repaired or replaced, not refunded. We do not issue refunds on items if they become faulty, we work closely with the item manufacturer to ensure it is back in working order as soon as possible. This time-frame can vary depending on the product.
Please note that the warranty purchased with a product generally dictates the turnaround of a return. An entry level laptop warranty is not as speedy as a top of the range laptop warranty, this is one of the reasons entry level laptops are more affordable. If you are unhappy with the turnaround for a warranty return please remember that it is a process controlled by the manufacturer issuing the warranty, not us.
It is important to understand that not all warranties are created equal. Please contact us if you have any questions.
To organise a forward replacement we require a capture for the value of the forward replacement on a credit card.
Upon approval for forward replacement you have 10 days to return the faulty goods to us before the captured funds are transfered to our accounts automatically. Please note that if no problem is found with your device the captured funds will also transfer to our accounts.You will be responsible for organising return shipping.
Once the faulty unit has been receipted and accepted we release the captured funds.
We recommend calling us to provide this information verbally as email are the safest way to transfer this information.
The best way to initiate a return request is to use our online return form located here. All items must receive an RA number prior to being sent to an authorised repair centre. Please do not send a faulty unit to any address until we have approved the return and advised you of the correct delivery address.
If an item is sent to us prior to receiving your RA number you may need to cover any additional shipping charges if the item is required to be sent to an authorised repair centre.
All products are first checked in our service department before the
exchange will be made. More details can be given at the time of inquiry.
If the product has been damaged by improper use or installation we
cannot provide an exchange.
If a returned item is found to not have a fault no refund will be
given and all postage costs incurred by NotebookCity will need to
be refunded in full prior to the item being re-release.
Please choose your product carefully. We will provide you with as much help and
information, where possible, but please understand that there are so
many different product combinations that we cannot fully
guarantee that your chosen product will work with every type of hardware or software
component.
Conducting your own due diligence by researching on the internet,
reading review sites and posting in forums is always the best
option so you can make an informed decision. Normally a product manufacturer
will supply sufficient compatibility information on their website. Most major manufacturers also employ a local 0800 number so you can ask pre sales questions.
However we will still accept a return if the criteria are in line with our 7 day return policy.
Warranty for a product is specific to that individual product and cannot be transferred to an alternative product. New items start their "warranty" as they are sold. If your item is faulty we will provide a solution in accordance with the Consumer Guarantees Act.
Refunds are at our discretion and if accepted can be given if the faulty or non-faulty product is returned within 7 business days of purchase and the product is in 'condition to resell'. A 15% or $20 Restocking Fee may apply (whichever is higher). For faulty products this includes all original packaging or boxing and any software or manuals that may have been supplied. For non-faulty products, resalable condition means the goods have not been used.
Goods will not be accepted back if they are not in 'condition to resell' or if the purchase is more than 7 business days old.
We pay for the shipping of any DOA items our customers receive when a return is raised within 7 days of customer receipt of their item. In all other instances the customer is required to cover the cost of shipping, as per industry norm.
As soon as your item is used or opened it is no longer classed as new which means we could be left with a used a now lower valued product in our stock (if we took it back). We do not sell second hand products and if you were a customer you would not want to buy an item that has been used. So please conduct ample research and choose your product carefully before purchasing.
All RMA / Returned goods are first checked in our service department to verify the fault and to determine if the item is still within its warranty coverage. Goods must be returned with all original packaging (including all accessories and media). It is the customers responsibility to ensure goods are returned safely, if goods have been damaged in transit we will not be able to process any returns/refunds/exchanges. Then the item is processed on to our supplier for repair/replacement. We understand that a RMA is an extreme inconvenience for both parties and will do our best to ensure your RMA is processed promptly. Please understand that there is more than one business involved with the RMA process, hence the estimated time of 5 - 14 working days. Be aware that most manufacturers provide a return to base warranty and do not provide forward replacements.
The normal turnaround time is 5-14 working days and depends on the nature of your reported fault. By providing us with as much accurate information as possible by having a clear description of your fault, will assist us with our testing procedure.
Have you tried calling the faulty items service support line? Normally these are local toll free numbers which can be found by navigating to the manufacturers homepage and locating their support page. A list of common manufacturer support lines and websites can be found on our Manufacturers Support page.
For an RA to be approved on our systems the fault will need to be confirmed by the manufacturer's support line with a corresponding manufacturers fault number. If the product is deemed faulty the unit will need to be either sent in to us or to an approved repair centre, we will advise you on this information.
Please complete an online RA form to raise a return. However you will still need to supply a manufacturers fault number with the online RA form.
We offer our customers a 7 day window to return their purchase should they have had a change of mind or purchased an incorrect model. Please be aware that refunds will only be given to goods purchased directly on the NotebookCity.co.nz website, that are in pristine resellable condition (not used) and returned within 7 days of purchase. If the unit has been opened, had a seal broken or otherwise damaged you are not eligible for this policy. Software is not applicable to this policy.
Returns can be a tricky area as every return has a different set of circumstances, so we look at every return on a case by case basis. Of course if the item has developed a fault we will meet our obligations under the Consumer Guarantees Act, but in general if you want to return a product simply because you have changed your mind, we cannot take it back. Exceptions to this rule are items that fall under our 7 day no questions return policy.
If your address is incorrectly entered on an order please contact our customer services at 09-3599068 option 1, as soon as possible. If this change occurs before shipping there will be no change to your orders cost. If this change occurs after package has shipped there will be a minimum $15.00 re-routing fee.
Tracking information is available for all orders. Most orders will automatically have their tracking information applied to them so you can view them by viewing the order in your user account page. If for some reason this is not available then the best way to get your tracking information is to email us at info@notebookcity.co.nz with the words 'Tracking info for' followed by your order number.
Overnight shipping as well as Sub60 Auckland couriers can be arranged for orders if you require a faster turnaround. This will need to be arranged by calling our sales team on 09-3599068. Payment is required to cover the cost of the expedited shipping, please contact our sales team for pricing.
We ship free NZ wide regardless of quantity. This shipping option is applicable for all regular sized items in New Zealand shipped via CourierPost or equivalent courier. All orders are trackable, insured with a signature required.
We only ship to physical addresses in New Zealand and do not ship overseas. We cannot send packages to a PO Box or Private Bag address.
Invoices are permanently stored online for your convenience. To access your invoices log in to our site and choose to view your 'account details' page, click on the orders tab and open the order required. At the base of this page you will have the option to print your invoice.
As we sometimes send goods from several locations (eg. from internal stock or direct with a supplier) you will occasionally receive your order via more then one courier. If this is the case you will be informed via email that your order is shipping from multiple locations at the time we book the couriers, which is well before you receive your goods. Generally if you have just received one part of your order the rest are not far behind and will arrive during the same or next business day.
We ship free throughout New Zealand for non-oversize items. If an item is oversized we will contact you with a quote for freight.
We do not allow the delivery of any items outside of New Zealand. If you require goods for an overseas destination we recommend talking to a freight forwarding company to arrange the delivery. We will still require a local physical address for any goods purchased from us.
Yes we can arrange for some items to have delivery attempted on a Saturday morning. Contact us to see if your order is eligible.

We work with several courier companies however deliveries are generally made with NZ Couriers or CourierPost. Unfortunately couriers are not able to call you prior to delivery, if you are not available at the time of delivery they will leave a card to call that you can use to reschedule delivery.

Yes. These are available online once you have made a purchase. To access these access your account details page and choose the orders tab, then open the order in question and select the 'Click to open a window with a printable invoice' option at the base of the invoice.
After placing an order has been placed on our system you will be able to track it's status by viewing the order details under the orders tab of your account details page. The four main status indicators used are the following;
- Pending
- Payment Received
- Completed
- On Account
Pending orders are new to the system or are orders that no payment has been received for. 'Payment Received' orders are all orders that our system has received a payment for, you will be emailed once the status of your order changes from Pending to 'Payment Received'. Completed orders have been processed in full and had a courier arranged for delivery, you will receive an email once your order has been completed.
'On Account' orders are used for business customers who posses a NotebookCity business account.
A credit card is processed at the time of an order being placed on our system.

Only Direct Deposit payments are eligible for our 3% discount. All other payment methods qualify for Regular pricing. Visa Debit and other similar cards still use the Visa network and as such are subject to Regular pricing.
All transactions are encrypted using the latest 128bit SSL technology. We use the Paymark / DPS payment gateway which is the proven ecommerce gateway in New Zealand.
As a BNZ merchant our site has to meet various IT security requirements and maintain the latest standards and protections for our customers. This is regularly tested and if we do not meet the latest security standards we cannot trade.
Once an order has been placed using our shopping cart an automated receipt email will be generated to the email address you have provided. This email will include a link to your order status screen and will include other important information. You should keep this email for your reference and check the details you have supplied are correct. Another similar email will be sent once your payment has been received and one final one once your order has been processed and a courier booked.

Clicking on "View Cart" will take you to the "Shopping Cart" screen,
where you can easily change the quantities of each product you wish to

As a measure to combat fraudulent internet purchases we will often ask first time customers that place a significant credit card purchase with us for a valid form of NZ identification which includes the cardholders signature. We will also ask for a copy of the purchasers signature next to this identification.
Generally this means a photo/scan of an ID with a signature next to it on a piece of paper. Please don't be offended if we ask for this information.
If you choose not to provide this information you will be given the option to change your order to a direct deposit payment, receive our 3% discount and then be issued with a credit card reversal.
Certain fields are required prior to being able to review your order. These are marked by an asterisk and include the delivery address, contact phone number to name a few.

Yes, we support orders that require separate billing and delivery information. This is useful for a business with several branches, NotebookCity resellers or for sending gifts.
If you have completed an order and no longer require the goods contact us as soon as possible on 093599068 and we will cancel it from our systems and apply any apply a refund or credit towards another item.
If the goods have already been sent we allow our customers a seven day window to return any unopened, pristine condition goods that they no longer require. This includes 'change of mind' purchases. To do this a NotebookCity RA form must be completed and approved prior to sending the goods back. Return shipping costs in these instances are covered by the customer.
Orders are not confirmed immediately as our sales team needs to check the order and notify you if there are any problems. Also, if you submitted your order after working hours the order may not be processed until the next business day.

No. We use a lazy registration system that will automatically create an account for you after the completion of your first order.
Our stock levels are updated daily and provide an accurate view of current unit availability. Whilst we cannot guarantee stock quantities we do our best to ensure they are as accurate as possible. All new orders are double checked within 15 minutes of being received for current stock levels. In the rare case that we have sold out of the unit and this has not yet been reflected on our site our customer service staff make prompt attempts to contact you to advise this as well as a possible alternative.
Generally the wait for an item that is out of stock is anywhere from 5-14 days. When you place an order on an out of stock item our systems tell the relevant vendor to bring a unit into the country (if they are not due already). Payment in full is required prior to us placing the order with the relevant vendor.
There are exceptions to this and if a longer delay is expected our customer service staff will contact you with an ETA as soon as we are made aware of it.
We believe that people buy with us because they expect a premium service to support their purchases. This includes our provision of forward replacements, speedy return processing, timely response to email and phone queries and support where required.
As such we do not reduce our pricing beyond what is displayed on our website. We do not utilize parallel imports or use bait and switch tactics as is common with many of the low cost operators in the marketplace.
We do not Parallel Import the majority of our products. Unless otherwise stated all our items are NZ new and come with a full manufacturers warranty.
Our seven day return policy allows for these mistakes to be made and for refunds to be made on incorrectly purchased goods. However claims are not accepted beyond this time limit or if the goods have been opened or are no longer in new, pristine condition.
Before placing an order please ensure that you have conducted ample research regarding the specifications/compatibility required. Whilst NotebookCity staff can offer advice, it is up to the customer to ensure that the product purchased meets their particular requirements.
If you have received your goods and are still not 100% sure on compatibility contact us as soon as possible and do not open or use the goods. As soon as goods have been opened we cannot accept them back.
Functionally these units are the same although academic versions are usually non-upgradeable and are intended for educational use only. Generally a copy of your student ID card is required to qualify for academic pricing and to register your product.
